Science Week in the Wild: P4KL Become Nature’s Engineers

16th Jun 2026
As part of their ongoing learning about the natural world, the creative pupils of P4KL stepped into our school forest area this week to try their hands at a bit of natural engineering! Tasked with building their own bird nests, the children put their knowledge of animal habitats into practice, scavenging for materials like twigs, grass, leaves and stones. After completing their fantastic structures, the class decided to leave them nestled safely in the forest area. Instead of keeping them, they left the nests behind for our local birds to take apart to build their own real nests high up in the trees. It was a wonderful, hands-on way to support our school wildlife, and the children showed brilliant teamwork, problem-solving, and a lovely care for the environment.
