As part of our topic Winter, Primary One have been busy learning about how we can care for wildlife during the colder months. The children enjoyed a hands on activity making their very own bird feeders using lard, seeds, oats, and dried mealworms.
They chose either an apple or a recycled toilet roll as the base for their feeder and carefully pressed the mixture onto it. The children loved talking about which birds might visit and how providing food can help them during Winter.
The feeders will be hung outdoors so we can observe which birds come to enjoy the treats. This activity has helped the children learn about nature, responsibility and the importance of looking after our environment
