P4MMC Explore Carrickfergus Castle

27th Oct 2025
P4MMC had the most amazing time on their trip to Carrickfergus Castle today! The pupils explored the castle and its grounds in detail, discovering what life was like in a castle over 800 years ago. During our visit, we saw the freshwater well, arrow slits, murder holes, canons, weapons and suits of armour. We also got to experience the famous trip step on the spiral staircase and even got a glimpse inside the dungeon.

The children had the opportunity to dress up as castle characters, trying on king, queen, knight, princess, and jester costumes- there were lots of smiles and laughter all around! Our wonderful tour guide was very impressed by the thoughtful questions the pupils asked and by how much they already knew about castles from our WAU topic work.

This trip brought our learning to life in the most exciting way! Everyone learnt so many new and fascinating facts and it was the perfect way to end the half term.
What a fantastic day out for P4MMC!
