P3BH Set Sail for Science Week

16th Jun 2026
As part of Holy Trinity’s Science Week, P3BH investigated floating and sinking. Using junk materials, the children built their own boats before testing them in the water tray. The pupils added Numicon beads to their boats to discover how many they could hold before sinking. The children made predictions and carefully observed the results. The children discovered that some materials worked better than others. Plastic was the most successful material, while egg cartons quickly became waterlogged and sank. The pupils learned about buoyancy, waterproof materials and how the design of a boat can affect how well it floats. Well done, P3BH!
