In P4KL this week, we took inspiration from Vincent van Gogh, looking closely at how he used thick, expressive strokes to give his paintings a sense of physical texture. To explore this concept ourselves, the class practiced frottage—the art of creating textures using the environment. The students went on an outdoor texture hunt around the school, capturing the raw patterns of various materials. These rubbings were then layered into texture collages, mimicking the rhythmic, tactile quality found in Van Gogh’s artwork.
