Primary 7MH S.T.E.P.S
On Wednesday 26th October, P7MH visited the Heritage Centre in Duncrue Industrial Estate as part of their project with Science and Technology Experts in Primary Schools. (S.T.E.P.S.)
This project involves professional people assisting schools with a project based on Science and Technology, and involves 21 primary schools all over Northern Ireland.
The class are working with Clare Gileece who is an engineer, and she arranged for the class to be shown around the water treatment site, where the water that we use for drinking, cleaning and other activities is cleaned. The children got to see the facilities including the storage facilities for excess rainwater all of which is part of the 160 million pound Belfast Sewers Project. There is also a museum at the site documenting the history of water treatment in Belfast.
P7MH were told about the importance of water in developing countries and took part in various quizzes and water based activities in the afternoon. They are looking forward to future work on the project in the next few months.
